Use Or Lose Memory - 1671 Words

Use or Lose Memory Memory is a fickle part of a person’s genetic makeup. It plays a very important role in person’s life. It not only helps a person develop, but it also helps people with coping with stress. As a person continues to grow and age, memory can be influenced by many factors such as: nutrition, sleep, medication, as well as physical and mental exercise. Unfortunately, both short-term and long-term memory can be lost as a person ages due to the atrophy of brain matter, specifically grey matter. Cells bodies are densely packed in the grey matter of the brain of an individual who is constantly learning. As a person ages, if not properly taken care of, the grey matter within their brain starts to become sparse and they start to†¦show more content†¦To lose that function can be very detrimental to not only a person’s mental wellbeing, but their physical wellbeing as well. My solution to this problem is to create an all-inclusive app for helping produce, maintain, and preventing the deterioration of grey matter within the brain. This app would not only bring awareness to individuals on how they can actively take part in keeping their own memories from deteriorating with old age, but it would also help with building and growing dense grey matter for children and the elderly as well. This app would include memorization games and learning games for people of all age groups. Although memorization is not the best in facilitating learning in the school atmosphere, it is very beneficial for the brain to go through repetitive actions that require the brain to stop and focus. Part of this app would focus on short-term memory and they other part would focus on long-term memory and how to keep from losing those memories by exercising the brain. There would be the ability to pick a new subject or hobby to learn about as well. Each Time the user opens the app, ther e would be a daily nutritional tip as to what foods and supplements help with overall memory health and for more specific memory issues such as focus. This would be a family application and would have the capability tracking progress for all age groups in the family as well. This part is important because it allows family members to
